Starling Castle: Gewurztraminer
Wednesday night and the bad batch season finale is out! Damn did I make a mistake drinking wine... so many tears were poured out tonight, but back to the wine! The Starling Castle, Gewurztraminer was imported from Pfalz Germany and damn is it extremely sweet. Unfortunately, this wine didnt indicate a vintage. On the scale, it actually is listed as " more than semi-sweet, but off of the usual wines that I taste, this one is loaded with sugar. This wine generally costs about $10, so I guess for that price, its fantastic.
Online, I found that this wine has notes of peach, sweet orange, cinnamon, and honey flavors. In my case, I feel like this tastes like a candied apple or honey glazed apple. I definitely get notes of cinnamon, but there is a strong honey flavor. I did have it with some chicken alfredo, but unfortunately I feel like it made the wine worse. The acidity came out to play and gave me a sharp green apple flavor which was way too strong to drink with the alfredo. When using the Wine Folly "Wine Aroma" chart, https://shop.winefolly.com/collections/tool/products/wine-aromas-chart, I smell peach, honey, and orange notes.
