Scotto Zinfandel

 

Valentines day and my girlfriend isn't here. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS! Boys night, wine night. Tonight this wine was paired with a delicious meal. A gorgeous steak with yellow onions. The wine tonight is a 2017 Zinfandel from Lodi, California.

This beautiful Zinfandel has hints of cherry, blackberry and an oak undertone. Which paired nicely with the New York Strip with McCormick Montreal steak seasoning (yes I know I couldve done better but I'm in college and I didnt feel like cooking). Overall if I had to rate this pairing, Id give a 7/10. The first few sips were extremely acidic, but after a few bites the taste mellowed out and allowed for other flavors to present themselves. 

 While sipping on the wine afterwards, the flavor continued to be fruity with the subtle oak in the background. On its own, Id give this wine a 7/10.
